It’s Here!!

img_40982For me, nothing says spring like the sweet face of a viola.  My grandmother taught me to look at each one and see it’s unique characteristics.   That is one of my first memories of gardening, along with going to the rural greenhouse, Sefton’s Greenhouse I believe it was, with my mother to choose them.  That was when the nurseryman (I don’t think we called him that) grew them individually in clay pots.  He would carefully tap each plant out of the pot, give it a drink of water with a baster (I don’t think he called it that) and then wrapped each one in a piece of newspaper for the trip home to the garden and yes, we had to plant them right away!!  Good times!!  HAPPY SPRING!!

  1. I don’t think I have ever seen these…they are incredible. I wonder if they will grow here.

  2. I’m not sure… they will die here about mid-June since they don’t like to too hot, but they bloom the entire time.
