Fall Boldness

It’s a fiery fall firework flower… seriously two bunches of these have lived here as long as I have.  I’m clueless what they are except they have to be related to the traditional surprise lily.  The foliage, like the naked ladies, arrives in the spring and the blooms appear this time of year on bare naked stalks.  They don’t last long, but they sure are beautiful as long as they are around!  It was a cool (60 degree) gloomy day, with some mist this morning, but we sure do need some rain… maybe tomorrow!

  4. Spider Lilies!!!
I found some of these growing on an empty property (my guess is, there used to be a house a long time ago) between my house and the elementary school a couple of years ago, and I had to stop and take pictures one day. Didn’t know what they were, but thankfully one of my blogging friends did :-)

  5. Wow, I haven’t seen it yet. This is a beautiful addition to KC, isn’t it!?
