When you care enough to send the very best…

It’s amazing how much a person can cram into one day during the holiday season.  Every minute of the resident sightseeing trip today was enjoyable. (Except maybe the traffic and crowds, but to be expected.)

Halls is paying tribute to 100 years of Hallmark cards with “Deck the Halls”. The Halls design team reproduced over 40,000 vintage cards for displays in the Halls Crown Center and Halls Plaza stores.  With the cards they designed gowns (the one above was the star), garlands, wreaths, packages, trees, flowers, tablecloths, curtains, panels and other displays.  For the Holly gown (pictured) Andrea Ring and Gina Estes used 500 cards and 200 punched flowers for the skirt detail.

As we strolled the store it was delightful to have nearly every clerk stop and proudly share details of the exhibits and some of the history of the company they work for.   One of them even shared that the designer is going to wear the Holly gown for a photo shoot when the exhibit has concluded.

The back of the gown…

Belt detail…

Hemline detail…

There was also time for the gingerbread village at Crown Center…

and the Mayor’s Christmas tree.

Ok… back to the cards… LOVED the shoes!!

Well… enough for now, but there will be more shoes, some pajamas, more gowns and some flowers in the days to come.  The displays were phenomenal.  The thought of “losing” the greeting card… well… it’s like the thought of “losing” books, let’s just not think about it!
