Sun & Snowdrops

Even though it was only 31 degrees today it was a beautiful sunny day and the perfect time to take a peek at what is lying under the leaves in the garden. The snowdrops are over two weeks later than last year, but they will be worth every minute of wait!  It felt really great to get out there for a couple of hours… the leaves were pulled back and a dose of fertilizer was added to the spring blooming bulb shoots, at the advice of Savvy Gardener.  However, some of the leaves were carefully returned to their place… my conscience would not let me leave them uncovered.  Full moon tonight and three weeks till spring!!!!

  1. They will be beautiful when they bloom. Lucky you to be able to get out in the garden today. We are buried under a foot of snow. I don’t know if the former owners of our home had any spring bulbs…I’m hoping for some surprises though. I did plant lots of tulips, daffodils, crocus and grape hyacinths last fall, but no snow drops. If there are none here this spring I will have to remedy that this fall!

  2. Yay! A tiny foretaste of spring. Love this closeup of the snowdrop pushing through.

  3. Isn’t it nice to see those again! Now I’m getting anxious for our flower beds to start showing signs of life.

  4. After three weeks of above average weather, we are back into cold and snow. I am jealous!

  5. Green! Oh how wonderful! I am so looking forward to spring! Nice photo!
